Southern Zone Interagency Fire Council

Welcome to the home of the Southern Zone Interagency Fire Council. The mission of the SZIFC is to coordinate and standardize education, strategy and tactics, communication and mobilization of fire resources in the seven counties of Montana’s Southern Zone. Those counties include Sweetgrass, Stillwater, Carbon, Musselshell, Treasure, Yellowstone, and Big Horn.

The SZIFC is made up of fire chiefs and fire managers from local, state, and federal fire and emergency response agencies. The members of the SZIFC meet regularly to discuss response issues, work to better coordination among responders, and to provide training opportunities that encourage interagency cooperation.
